FULL CAGE vs. half cage Training in a full cage is better 10 times out of 10. There is no doubt that a half cage has benefits such as the up against the fence issue, but nothing matches the movement and quality as a full cage can. Here at ASMA, we hold mixed martial arts matches between students. We use 7 oz. gloves and shinguards so that we can still train the following day. The matches are very hard sparring sessions with judges who are just as blind as state qualified judges. To have continuous competitive matches takes the edge off when you have to step into the cage for real. Strategies and fighting styles can be enhanced and tailored to your individual needs, and this is best done when training in a full cage.
